Hello Readers! I’m not much of a resolution-type of person BUT I do like having goals and a focused direction so I am going to share my writing resolutions for 2021. Even though there were a lot of other challenges in 2020, writing wise, the year was actually pretty good to me; here are the highlights:
- -my focus for the year was revision of my existing manuscripts and I did a LOT of revision
- -completed 4 new drafts
- -submitted 16 manuscripts to Rate Your Story (some of these were revisions)
- -joined two new critique groups and am loving the added support that comes from having critique partners
- -sent out 21 submissions to agents in the fall
- -received one request for more work which resulted in a pass
- -attended SCBWI LA Summer Spectacular 2020

- So for this year my plans are as follows:
- -revise 1-2 manuscripts each month
- -write one poem a week: see my poem-a-week challenge
- -take advantage of as many SCBWI online workshops as possible
- -do weekly blog interviews with picture book authors and illustrators for my Kid Lit Love – Kid Lit Village series
- -meet with critique group every 2 weeks
- -exchange online critiques once a month
- -complete Tara Lazar’s Storystorm challenge
- -take a Highlights course while they are offering online opportunities
- -continue to submit polished manuscripts to agents

Here’s to 2021! I hope you’ll stop by over the year and read some of my posts. Or sign up for my newsletter for updates. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you also. 🙂
