Exciting News! Megan at Fairy Tailed Wish has included my lovely picture book, KATIE SHAEFFER PANCAKE MAKER in her Family Book Club and will have a feature on the book on September the 7th! Woohoo! It seemed like a good fit for Megan’s Family Book Club because it lends itself well to family activities like making pancakes, especially since there’s already a recipe in the back.
Add to that the fact that Katie loves to build, collect and invent things and you really have a super family friendly book that all ages can enjoy. One of my favourite activities for children based on the book is something called ‘boxing’. Unlike the sport, it is a three dimensional art activity where children collect empty boxes, build with them and tape them together with masking tape. Children often wish to paint their structures afterwards. Oatmeal boxes, cereal boxes, soap boxes and granola bar boxes all work well for this project.
